A Writer’s Best Friend: Chillsubs
This post contains an affiliate link for Chillsubs’s paid plans.
Chillsubs is the reason I got published so often so quickly. And paid for my work.
They have a database of vetted literary magazines, contests and presses that you can filter to your heart’s content.
I’m not the most tech-savvy person, but their filters are super easy to use.
They have logistical filters, like medium, genre, do they pay, how much, response time, rejection rate, deadlines.
They also have vibes- and value-based filters like “Actually Inclusive,” “Damn Good Editors,” “Beautiful Design,” “New Writer Friendly,” and “Hidden Gems.”
I also love their email newsletters. They do Q&As with agents, publishers, MFAs; all kinds of behind-the-scenes insights into the literary industry.
Even on the free version, I can save my favorite publishers, track my submissions, and read insights about the literary industry, agents, etc.
I love being able to track my submissions right on their site. It helps me stay organized and contributes to their rejection rate statistics for everyone.
If you’re a writer who’s got the thing written and wondering where to send it, Chillsubs has the best platform I’ve ever seen. Especially for new writers.
They do so much to take care of the writers that use their platform.
On top of their newsletters, industry insights, and easy-to-use database, they also hold webinars, writing groups, and workshops to deepen your skills across craft, networking and business.
Chillsubs has been the most easily accessible writer database I’ve come across.
The paid version of their newsletter gives you access to job postings that they collect. Yeah, actual job listings in the publishing industry, from indie presses to the Big Five!
So glad that Chillsubs exists.
